At Koti, we believe that the character of a piece of furniture lives in its materials. We source responsibly, choose honestly, and work with makers who understand that the difference between good and extraordinary lies in the grain, the weave, the finish. These are the materials that define our collection.
Oiled Walnut
Our walnut is sourced from sustainably managed European forests and finished with natural oil that lets the wood breathe. The rich, warm grain — ranging from honey to deep chocolate — develops a deeper lustre with age. Every knot and figure is unique; no two Koti pieces are identical.
Bouclé & Wool
Our bouclé is woven from a blend of wool and cotton, creating the distinctive looped texture that defines Koti seating. The cream and oatmeal tones are achieved with natural, undyed fibres. The fabric softens beautifully with use while maintaining its structure — upholstery that improves with time.
Brushed Brass
We use solid brass — never plated — for our hardware, lamp fittings and accent details. Each piece is hand-brushed to create the soft, directional texture that catches light so beautifully. Over time, the brass develops a natural patina that tells the story of your home.

Well-made things deserve thoughtful care. Here is how to keep your Koti pieces looking their best for years to come.
Caring for Wood
Daily care: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. For deeper cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth and dry immediately.
Oiling: We recommend re-oiling your walnut furniture once or twice a year with a natural furniture oil. Apply a thin coat with a soft cloth, leave for 15 minutes, then buff off the excess. This feeds the wood and maintains its rich lustre.
Avoid: Direct sunlight for extended periods, placing hot items directly on the surface, and harsh chemical cleaners. Use coasters and placemats as a sensible habit.
Caring for Upholstery
Regular maintenance: Vacuum upholstered pieces weekly using a soft brush attachment. Rotate and flip loose cushions monthly to ensure even wear.
Spot cleaning: Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — never rub. For stubborn marks, use a mild upholstery cleaner tested on an inconspicuous area first.
Professional cleaning: We recommend professional upholstery cleaning every 12–18 months to maintain the fabric's texture and appearance.
Caring for Metal Hardware
Brushed brass: Our brass is unlacquered by design — it will develop a natural patina over time, which we consider part of its beauty. If you prefer to maintain the original brightness, polish occasionally with a brass-specific cleaner and a soft cloth.
Matte black metal: Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that could damage the powder-coat finish.
Caring for Textiles
Wool throws and cushions: Air outside regularly. Spot clean with cold water and mild detergent. Dry flat to prevent stretching. Professional dry cleaning is recommended for thorough cleaning.
Linen: Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Tumble dry on low or air dry. Linen is meant to look relaxed — embrace the natural creasing as part of its character.
